Many of the original masters were made on nitrate which can be highly combustible. Following new safety legislation on storage of nitrate, it became too expensive to store them in commercial labs and they were kept at the Dent family home for a number of years. They were deposited with the BFI about 15 years ago.

We are enormously grateful to the BFI for preserving and storing the film material. Their advice and expertise has been invaluable and we now have an agreement with them to re-master and release the films on DVD and Blu Ray.
